Perfect Cloud Hybrid Mattress

This reasonably-priced queen hybrid mattress might be the perfect choice for those who don’t have much experience with hybrid beds. It offers the ideal balance between the two worlds, without putting a big dent in your pocket.

The model employs innovative technologies to ensure both support and comfort. The pocketed coil springs provide excellent motion transfer and durability, while the memory foam relieves the excess pressure around the head, neck, shoulder, and back areas.

Manufacturers often neglect the covers, mostly focusing on other features. It’s good to see that the team behind Perfect Cloud is not like most manufacturers. The luxurious premium textile stretch knit cover feels even better than it looks. And it looks fantastic.

The cover allows for sufficient airflow, making sure the heat doesn’t get trapped. The feature comes much appreciated as heat dissipation is usually problematic wherever there is memory foam involved.

The Perfect Cloud features multiple layers, all working in unison to ensure a good night’s sleep. The memory foam layers feature a 1″ plush memory foam layer and a 2.5″ gel-infused memory foam layer.

The gel foam also plays a vital role in heat dissipation and offers many other advantages over traditional memory foam. Beneath the top two layers, you’ll find a 5.5″ layer of individually wrapped coils encased in 1″ transitional poly support foam.

All of the above results in a superior weightless sleep experience. The Perfect Cloud has a soft, smooth feel that comes with all the support you need. The manufacturer offers a 10-year warranty.

Lucid 12 inch Latex Hybrid Mattress

The introduction of latex has brought upon a small revolution in the sleep industry. But, a good latex hybrid mattress is a rare sight. LUCID has made this type of their specialty, and it seems that they are doing a great job so far.

The model distributes weight equally and offers optimal pressure relief. All of its perks come at a fair price. The plush and latex layers, paired with premium individually-wrapped steel coils, guarantee a luxurious experience. The layers ensure the perfect balance between the sink and spring. The materials are breathable and hypoallergenic.

The high-grade steel coils boost the airflow and offer extra edge support. They are great at conforming to all sleep styles. Moreover, they do not take away any of the advantages the foam layers bring to the table.

The latex ensures the dissipation of heat and ads just the right touch of bounciness. It also provides motion isolation, while the memory foam ensures coziness.

The cover isn’t just an elegant touch. It also adds to the overall plush and cushiony feel. The cover is removable and easy to wash. It’s excellent for those who fear germs and allergens.

On a scale from 1 to 10, the firmness level falls at 4. It makes it ideal for all sleep positions. But beware, our scale is as objective as we could make it, but, in the end, much depends on your own preferences.

Since this Lucid model falls in the medium-firm category, it offers excellent support to heavier sleepers, as well as most sleep positions. The model is quite comfortable and comes with a slight sink. The manufacturer also sells an adjustable base that fits this model.

Nest Bedding Flip Hybrid Mattress

By introducing the first two-sided hybrid bed, Nest Bedding engineers have established themselves as pioneers in the world of hybrid mattresses. Although it’s an entry-level model, it has a lot going on under the surface.

So, why the flip? Well, one side is firm, and the other comes with a medium feel. Generally, a firm hybrid mattress is not a good option for side sleepers. But, the duality of the Flip makes it great for all sleeping styles.

Stomach and back sleepers will enjoy both sides. The model is supportive and bouncy, especially on the firmer side. Individuals under 230 pounds might prefer the medium-firm side.

The firm side ought to work better for heavier folks. Sleepers who fall in the “between” category will appreciate it the most, as one side will surely fit them.

The Flip is quite responsive. The foams and coils pop back quickly, making it an excellent choice for combo sleepers as well. Unlike with traditional memory foam mattresses, you won’t have the feeling of being “stuck.”

The model is ideal for neutral temperature sleepers. Whether you are a hot or cold sleeper, you won’t get any special perks either way.

However, the coils do help with the airflow, and there’s also the Visco Gel. Generally, firm beds sleep cooler. Keep that in mind if you sleep hot.

What surprises most people, even the experts, is the excellent edge support. It usually lacks when you are dealing with foam mattresses, especially cheap ones.

And, despite the coils, it provides excellent motion isolation. The Flip could easily be the best hybrid bed in its price category

Sweetnight 8 Inch Individually Pocket Spring Hybrid Mattress

Although it’s no king of hybrid mattresses, it could be, as its name suggested, the hybrid mattress queen. With the Sweet Night Queen, you are sure to get a bang for your buck.

If health is your priority, you can’t go wrong with the Queen. The model comes with a CertiPUR-US certification. In other words, there is no mercury, formaldehyde, or any other substance that could be considered harmful.

The cover is made from natural materials, making it great at combating allergies. This mattress is as green as they get.

Unlike many other models, the Queen doesn’t come with an everlasting, unpleasant odor. Although there is some smell, it airs out quickly. It completely disappears after three days.

The model is designed to fit almost any type of foundation, so you won’t have to go shopping for a new one. You can even lay it on the floor. The Queen is also fit for a variety of toppers and other accessories.

While the model comes with the comfortable hug of your average memory foam model, it doesn’t come with the significant downsides of such models. The gel foam and the carbon steel spring coils make sure there is not heat trapped on the surface.

That combo also makes it quite durable. It won’t get deformed, as long as you rotate it every once in a while.

The Queen provides equal weight distribution and excellent motion isolation. In other words: it’s a perfect mattress for couples.

The model is medium-firm, making it an ideal choice for all sleep styles. So, when it comes to positions, like many other hybrids, the Queen is a jack of all trades, but the master of none. However, according to feedback, back sleepers are somewhat more satisfied with the Queen than others.

Olee Sleep 10 Inch Omega Hybrid

Even though it’s likely the cheapest model on the list, the Omega has earned its place among the best hybrid mattresses. Despite being just 10″ thick, the Omega has a unique five-layer construction.

When it comes to suspiciously affordable products of any sort, there are always some concerns. However, the CertiPU-US label tells us there is nothing to worry about here.

This gel-infused innerspring model is excellent for bunk beds. The combination offers a solid feel. The independently-encased coils ensure even weight distribution.

Another great advantage of such coils is the excellent motion isolation they provide. It’s great for restless sleepers, and people sleeping with restless partners.

The coils are protected with high-density foam. It adds to the overall durability and helps disperse the heat. Of course, the Dura cool I-gel is also there to help hot sleepers.

The Duraflex foam provides elasticity, while the Soft Memory foam relieves pressure. The soft poly jacquard quilt promotes better airflow and adds to the comfort. The mattress fits all frames.

The model is of medium-firmness. It doesn’t sink too low, and you can expect it to keep its shape for quite a while, thanks to the pocket springs. Since it’s medium-firm, it caters to all sleep positions equally.

The memory foam layers help eliminate constant back, neck, and shoulder pain. However, if you do suffer from chronic sleep conditions, it’s best to go with a mattress that is designed for your particular needs.

The Omega is entirely hypoallergenic. It’s also easy to take care of. So, what’s the drawback? The 10-year protection plan costs extra.

Brooklyn Signature 11 Hybrid Mattress

Family-owned companies that made it big by manufacturing superior products are the pride of America. That’s precisely the story behind the Signature. But, what makes it stand out is the fact that it comes in three forms: firm, medium, and soft.

No matter how you sleep or how big you are, one of those options will be perfect for you. One exception would be people weighing over 350 lbs because the mattress is just 10″ thick. According to our research, the soft version works particularly well for light side sleepers.

The model uses Titan Flex instead of latex, offering even better pressure relief. The Titan Flex also ensures optimal cooling throughout the night.

It’s highly conductive properties ensure ideal comfort for every individual. The luxurious smooth top weave helps you cool down almost as soon as you touch it.

The one-of-a-kind foam is hyper-elastic and provides excellent responsiveness. Because of that, the Signature adjusts to your body whenever you move.

It’s another feature that makes it great for all positions, but especially for restless sleepers who like to switch positions throughout the night. If you are a combo sleeper, it’s best to go with the medium-firm version.

One of the layers is infused with gel and coper to increase stability and help promote an anti-bacterial environment. The model works great on any solid surface. Since the coils don’t use a border wire, you can even place it on an adjustable base.

The only downside is the lack of motion isolation. If your partner is particularly restless, this might not be the product for you.

All in all, the Signature is worth more than it costs. You can expect it to last at least ten years. It comes with a 120-night trial period and a 10-year warranty.

Sunrising Bedding 8 Inch Hybrid Natural Latex

Here we have another affordable latex hybrid mattress that doesn’t make any sacrifices when it comes to quality. Even though latex is often overlooked, it’s arguably the best alternative to traditional memory foam. Again, don’t let the price point worry you, this product is also CertiPUR-US approved.

The 100% natural latex made from Thai rubber has earned it a good spot in most hybrid mattress reviews. It’s not something you’d typically expect for this kind of money. The Sunrising has shown itself to be a good option for people who love spring mattresses, but are annoyed by some aspects of the innerspring feel.

When it comes to firmness, on a scale from 1 to 10, the Sunspring is a 7. It’s comfortable, but a bit on the firm side. Talalay latex ensures excellent contouring.

It cradles the body quite gently, while relieving pressure points. The material is quite elastic, adapting quickly as you switch positions throughout the night. Although latex is cooling on its own, this one comes with air pockets that help dissipate the heat even better.

It’s not fit for adjustable beds, but it goes with any other type of foundation. It comes with a bit of a bounce, but also with more than enough edge support.

Even though the model is designed to fit any pocket, the cover is made of fine cashmere. It makes the surface very breathable and pleasant to the touch. The cover helps your body keep warm in the winter.

The high-carbon steel wire coils will make sure there won’t be any sagging at least for a decade. Since each coil is individually wrapped, they offer sufficient motion isolation and make zero noise.

Brooklyn Aurora 13 inch Mattress

This is the second model from Brooklyn Bedding on our list. No one can deny the fact that this manufacturer is responsible for some of the best hybrid mattresses out there. The Aurora comes with a bit more strength than its smaller sibling.

The bouncy feel that only coils provide makes the Aurora an excellent choice for bedroom activities. The springs also allow for easy repositioning. Without a shred of doubt, Aurora is a luxury hybrid bed.

The model can be used on almost all bed foundations, including adjustable bases. The cover is cool to the touch and keeps the surface temperature regulated. It adapts well to your body heat.

The model features five layers, all built from premium materials. The TitanCool technology and copper gel Energex foam provide pressure relief and help dissipate heat. If you are a particularly hot sleeper, you won’t have to worry about overheating.

The second, TitanFlex layer, provides extra contouring with a bit of a bounce as well. More importantly, it’s safe for people with latex allergies.

The transitional layer is made of swirl visco-elastic memory foam. It furthers cooling and elevates motion isolation.

The fourth layer makes all the difference between a traditional memory foam mattress and a hybrid mattress. It’s equipped with Quantum edge pocket coils that ensure exceptional edge support, as well as increased stability and durability. If you’ve been sleeping on all-foam mattresses so far, you definitely won’t take this feature for granted.

The model comes in three versions: firm, medium, and soft. The Aurora is excellent for all sleep positions, and especially for combo sleepers.

However, the firm version is particularly great for heavier people. The price is a bit too steep, but it’s entirely justified considering the fact that this could easily be the best hybrid mattress on the market.

Classic Brands Decker Hybrid Memory Foam

This hybrid mattress is another reliable option for those who aren’t looking to break the bank. Decker is a good balance of cost and quality.

It’s also a great balance of innerspring and memory foam. It features a nice quilted knit cover that is designed to increase breathability.

The model is CertiPUR-US certified, so there’s nothing to worry about health-wise. On top of that, the surface is antimicrobial and hypoallergenic. It’s practically impervious to bacteria, mold, allergens, and dust mites.

The model aims to offer sufficient comfort and support. Although heat regulation is not the best around, the model provides adequate airflow thanks to the open-cell layer on the top.

The surface temperature is neutral. However, if you are a particularly hot sleeper, it’s best not to take any chances.

The steel coils distribute support evenly. The pocketed coil base also offers good motion isolation. The memory foam helps significantly in that regard as well. This is an excellent low-budget solution for sleepers with restless partners.

Thanks to the gel memory foam layer, the Decker provides great pressure point relive and excellent contouring. The model is of medium-firmness, making it a great option for most types of sleepers. However, it doesn’t perform exceptionally well when it comes to one particular style of sleep.

The mattress hugs the sleeper nicely, but offers a slow response. It adapts quite well to your posture. Usually, one can’t expect such a budget-friendly hybrid mattress to last long, mostly due to sagging. However, the Decker comes with a 10-year worry-free warranty.

The memory foam ensures ergonomic support. It adjusts to your weight and shape. Even though it’s a hybrid mattress, you won’t be deprived of the ultimate memory foam experience.

Hybrid Mattress Buyer's Guide

Before you start shopping for the hybrid mattress, we would like to shed a bit of light on the matter. Reading hybrid mattress reviews is not enough. You must know the key benefits and pitfalls.

So, what is a hybrid mattress, actually? It is a combination of at least two kinds of mattresses. Usually, it is the combination of innerspring and memory foam.

The best hybrid mattress features the best of both worlds. The two materials should complement each other in a way that neutralizes
their downsides.

A hybrid mattress should tackle the slow responsiveness and lack of heat dissipation that is typical for memory foams.

On the other hand, it shouldn’t be as bouncy as a plain, traditional innerspring mattress. It should also come with better contouring properties.

Higher-end mattresses typically don’t come with the notable downsides as they utilize multiple layers of different materials. So, mixed and matched foam is something to consider in your pursuit.

Different Types of Hybrid Mattress

Strictly speaking, a hybrid mattress is comprised of a coil support core and a comfort layer that’s at least two inches thick. This allows for a variety of combinations.

One thing is for sure, no matter what its name says, a mattress is not a hybrid if it doesn’t have coil support or at least a two-inch thick support layer. Beware – product names can be deceiving.

Support Core

When it comes to coils, the number and gauge can vary to a great degree, as well as the material type. Not to overwhelm you with too much detail in that regard, we’d just like to point out that tempered coils are sturdier, and thus much better than non-tempered coils. There are four different types of support core systems:

Bonell Coils

The most common coil support system. It is also the least expensive when it comes to production costs. A Bonnell coil is shaped like an hourglass. This system is excellent at providing even support, but not as good at relieving specific pressure points.

Continuous Coils

They also have an hourglass shape. However, they allow the mattress to align itself to your natural body shape. Since they are stable and study, they are used in high-end innerspring mattresses.

If you come across a serta hybrid mattress, chances are it uses this system. This support core system is comprised of head to toe rows of S-shaped springs. Continuous coils are touted as durable and continuously stable.

Pocket Coils

Such coils are individually wrapped in fabric coverings. They increase overall firmness and offer excellent motion isolation. They cost a lot to produce, so they are only found in the best hybrid mattresses.

Support Layer

Memory Foam

Traditional memory foam is known for its pressure-relieving and contouring properties. It supports each part of the body and allows your spine to stay in a neutral position. It’s notorious for trapping heat, but manufacturers are constantly coming up with ingenious ways to tackle the issue.

Latex

Latex materials are usually perforated to increase airflow. They are quite efficient at preventing overheating. Latex is also known for its excellent durability and pressure distribution properties. Latex is a bit on the heavy side.

Natural latex is usually the best, but also more expensive. Natural latex is allergen-free and has a natural resistance to mold and dust mites.

Gel Foam

This type of support layer is even better at absorbing heat. It’s almost as efficient as water in that regard. It’s usually quite elastic and very responsive, which makes it a great choice for restless sleepers who like to switch positions often.

Gel foam is resilient and offers great support. Coper-infused foam is a common alternative to gel foam.

Criteria We Considered

What’s the best hybrid mattress mostly depends on your personal preferences. However, to help you out, we have tried to accentuate the more objective factors as much as we could. Here are a few properties that you should also factor in when looking for the best hybrid bed.

Comfort & Feel

This one is probably the most subjective of them all. However, we considered sinkage, motion isolation, weight distribution, and heat distribution, as they are some features that have a significant impact on comfort.

Your sleep style (back, side, stomach, combo) also plays a role. Keep these properties in mind when trying to determine the comfort level.

Thickness

Instead of thickness, it’s better to focus on the number of layers. That said, the density should be at least 2.2 lbs. The more layers, the better the quality. A proper hybrid should have at least three layers.

However, thickness, in addition to firmness, tells us whether a mattress can support a certain amount of weight. For example, thicker mattresses are better for heavier people.

Firmness

This factor is also more subjective. However, we tried to apply a universal firmness scale based on genuine user feedback, material density, and the claims of manufacturers.

Manufacturers and their customers often disagree on the firmness level. As a rule of thumb, medium-firm hybrid mattresses are suitable for all sleep styles.

Lifespan & Durability

A good hybrid model should last at least a decade without any problems. This is why it’s essential to buy a mattress made by a reputable manufacturer. The quality of materials used can tell you a lot about durability. However, the warranty will reveal all there is to know.

Warranties

This one is pretty straightforward. A 10-year limited warranty is the standard. A 10-year full warranty is the absolute guarantee of durability.

Good For?

Proper spine alignment
Overall support
Pressure point relief
Proper edge support
Motion Isolation
Even weight distribution

FAQ

Q: What is a hybrid mattress?

By definition, it is a mattress that consists of a support coil system and a two-inch (minimum) comfort layer. A hybrid mattress must have both. A mattress made of multiple types of foam, but no coil is not a hybrid, strictly speaking.

Q: How long does a hybrid foam mattress last?

It should last at least 5 years. Better quality hybrids last at least 10 years. Any claim about durability should be backed by a warranty. A 10-year limited warranty is the standard.

Q: How much does a hybrid mattress cost?

Prices vary from $150 to $1500. Although the price tells us a lot, it is not synonymous with quality. Materials, certificates, warranties, and brand reputation are more important. Department stores are more expensive, but typically offer only reputable brands. On the other hand, the internet offers a myriad of cheap products, but they are often not tried and tested. That’s where we come in.

Conclusion

You’ll spend a third of your life sleeping on a mattress. Most people overlook the importance of a good mattress. But, not you! If you’ve come this far, it’s safe to say that, now, we are preaching to the choir.

Congratulations! We hope that we have taught you well and that the terms such as “gel-infused” and “individually-wrapped” no longer make your head spin. Now that you are equipped with all the necessary info on hybrids, we are sure you will make the right decision. Have fun shopping!
