Lucid Hybrid Mattress Features
Hybrid mattresses are indeed something special. These beds are comfortable, help with pain relief, and offer excellent edge support and breathability. In short, they provide an ideal balance of support and comfort. What makes them so versatile?
The key is in their construction. As their name suggests, these mattresses combine two or more different materials. In the case of this model, those materials are latex, memory foam, and steel (pocketed coils). As you can guess, each of these materials has its advantages. Combined, they work together to provide the best possible sleeping experience.
Above the model’s base foam layer is the pocket-coil system. 6.5″ wide, it consists of individually-wrapped steel coils. As they’re moving independently of each other, they prevent motion transfer (more on that later). Above the coil system is a series of latex and memory foam layers. While coils provide support, these layers offer the necessary comfort.
Going bottom to top, these layers are another base foam layer, transition layer (infused with aloe vera) and the comfort layer (infused with charcoal). There’s also some foam around the perimeter, enhancing the model’s edge support. Finally, the zippered cover sports an attractive pattern and is very soft to the touch.
Everybody knows how comfortable memory foam can be. In the same manner, the support of innerspring beds is a well-known thing. This gets us to the conclusion that hybrid models must be both comfortable and supportive. Can the same be said for Lucid Hybrid Mattress?
In short, yes, it can. First of all, the model’s plush upper layers make resting on this bed very enjoyable. Topped with natural latex, the memory foam of this mattress offers an ideal combination of sink and spring. The manufacturer says that this model is “on the plusher end of the spectrum”. We, however, would say that it’s closer to medium-firm.
The model’s pocketed coils act as its primary support structure. They do a fantastic job of reducing movement transfer and localizing support. Pocketed coils tend to be much better at this than your standard innerspring units.
The upper layers of this mattress, on the other hand, bring the necessary comfort. As we’ve mentioned, they’re infused with aloe vera and charcoal. They give the bed a fresh, inviting scent. The hypoallergenic properties of the model’s latex topping are a nice bonus.
All in all, this mattress feels excellent – just as we expected.
Motion Transfer & Edge Support
If you have a sleep partner, you’ll want to know how your new model handles motion isolation. In case of your partner moving on his/her side, will you feel the movement? Fortunately, our Lucid 12 Inch Hybrid Mattress review also covers motion transfer.
In our opinion, this is an excellent mattress for couples. It deals with motion transfer quite well – certainly better than we’ve expected. This is due to its system of pocketed coils. Only the coils underneath the sleeper are affected by pressure. The transfer of movement is minimal – you almost won’t feel a thing.
The edge support is another essential consideration. A model with excellent edge support is more comfortable and supportive when one is sitting on its edge. Putting on shoes, for example, is much easier when sitting on such a bed. It also brings a feeling of safety, mitigating the risk of falling off the mattress.
With extra foam around its perimeter, this bed easily solves the problem. Sitting on the edge causes minimal compression. With this bed, you won’t have to worry about rolling off in the middle of the night. Its edges are safe to sit on and safe to sleep close to.
Another point to touch in our Lucid 12 Inch Latex Hybrid Mattress review is temperature regulation. Sleeping hot harms sleep quality. Overheating can cause one to wake up in a sweat. Moreover, it leads to tiredness the next day.
For that matter, it’s important to have a bed with proper temperature regulation. Such mattresses keep the sleeper cool at night, preventing overheating. Fortunately, most of today’s mattress manufacturers solve this issue in one way or another.
Lucid Hybrid Mattress takes care of the problem in two ways. First of all, its individually wrapped coils promote airflow. Having good airflow in the base of the bed is essential. Secondly, it uses latex in its comfort layers. Unlike foam, this material doesn’t absorb body heat.
The combination of a breathable base and latex in the comfort layers works wonders. With Lucid Hybrid, you won’t have to worry about overheating. Although not as efficient as pricier models, this mattress successfully keeps the heat at bay.
However, don’t forget that even the most breathable model won’t cool you down if you use too many blankets. Try to avoid using sheets and blankets that are known for their heat-retaining properties.
Cleaning & Safety
The two-tone cover of this bed is made out of viscose, polyester, and spandex. Although this is a budget bed, it has a cover that’s comfortable and soft to the touch.
Removing the cover is not recommended, as putting it back on the mattress can be quite tricky. Use spot-cleaning only – mix some warm water with a mild detergent.
An important thing to mention here is that this model is CertiPUR-US certified. It was tested for environmental stewardship and physical performance. You won’t have to worry about safety. It contains no prohibited chemicals, heavy metals, and other dangerous substances.
This model arrives in a big box, rolled-up and compressed. As the box is opened from the sides (and not from the top), unpacking the mattress is exceptionally easy. A letter opener is included in the package.
The Lucid Hybrid Mattress is available in two sizes – 12″ and 10″. The 10-inch version has the same construction, but thinner layers (5.5″ springs instead of 6.5″ springs, for example). You can purchase it in one of the following styles: California King, King, Queen, Full, Twin XL, and Twin.
When shopping for a new bed, one also must consider the warranty. Fortunately, most reputable manufacturers cover their models with 10-year warranty deals. The same goes for this bed. The warranty does not cover wear and tear, as well as the regular changes in resilience and softness. It does, however, cover defects in craft and materials.
The 30-night trial period, on the other hand, gives you enough time to test the bed. During it, you’ll be able to determine if it’s the right choice for your bedroom. Don’t return the bed in the first two weeks, though. It takes some time for it to contour to your body.
Finally, we should also mention that Lucid works with most surfaces. These include platforms, box springs, metal grids, slatted bases, and adjustable bases.
In our opinion, the Lucid Hybrid Mattress offers a good value for the money. Although a budget-friendly option, it excels in terms of support and comfort.
Moreover, the model handles temperature regulation quite well. The cover is soft and breathable, while the latex foam actively responds to the sleeper’s weight. Finally, the model’s foundation takes care of motion transfer with its individually pocketed coils.
Hopefully, our Lucid Hybrid Mattress review has helped you determine whether you should go for this bed or not. If you’re on a tight budget, don’t hesitate – it’s a worthwhile investment.
